Really, Cavs, this is who we spend money on?

OK, so I will be the first to admit that I don't know shit about basketball ...really I don't, nothing wrong with it, but I am just not into it and don't know who is really a good player, who's over-rated, all that...I don't know...but here's what I do know...

Shaquille O'Neal is making a mockery of himself and the city of Cleveland...I don't care how good he is at basketball, the way he has been acting in the what, 3 months, since he was signed to the Cavs is nothing short of ludicrous...the youtube lipsync video as his "first official reaction", the new reality show, hosting WWE, trying to "drop by" the White House...seriously, is this guy for real?...I can't even handle giving a description of why each of these things is so ridiculous right now, but believe me I could...

To me, this is all just kind of disrespectful to the city of Cleveland...I know he didn't specifically choose to come here, but he's said he's happy to be here, so why not act with a little more dignity than this? When you play for a professional sports team you're a representative of the city, whether that's justified or not that's the way it is...even though the team is actually a private entity, professional sports teams are unique in that they're completely tied to the identity of the city they play in...this is your job, Shaq, you're employed by the Cleveland Cavaliers...any other employer would not be tolerant of you acting in a way that makes the company look foolish, and when you're participating in all these shenanigans it reflects on Cleveland, especially since you're name dropping "my new teammate Lebron" Cavs this, Cavs that, wearing your Cavs jersey on your twitter page, and generally using your status as a player to facilitate these stunts, you can't claim "personal life stay out of it"...it just doesn't work that way...

Not to mention, I can't imagine there's not some clause in your contract that prohibits you from participating in outside activities that produce an unreasonable risk of being injured...which I think reality show challenges and WWE fights most certainly fall into that category...I swear that came up when Roethlisberger got in that motorcycle accident a few years ago...

Honestly, I know people are tired of a lot of LeBron's entitlement and attitude bullshit, which is getting old...and no, I don't count wearing a Yankees cap as a slight to Cleveland...but one thing you can tell is he's not ashamed of Cleveland or Akron..even if he goes somewhere else for more money, it will probably be for just that, money...

And who knows, maybe other players pull this crap too and I don't know anything about it since, like I said, I don't watch basketball...but yeah, that's what I think about that...end of story...

DEFRIENDED!!

So I need to muster up the balls to defriend someone on facebook...and I've defriended people before...but they were people I never actually talked to and they just updated too much...but this person just annoys the shit out of me and makes some comment or instant messages me like everyday...I just don't like him...he's an arrogant, full of himself, know it all, ass...the kind of person when I actually do try to talk to him, just pisses me off more...I can't say anything to him without him trying to one up me or contradict me, or act like he knows whatever I'm talking about better than I do...and when he tries to relate to me it's in such a way that I would want to punch myself in the face if I was actually acting like him...there's no reason I need to let people who make me react this way be part of my life simply for the sake of not being rude...I don't need to tolerate people who anger me just to make them happy, yet I don't want to hurt their feelings...but in a way that just lets them hurt my feelings...or at least give me bad feelings...right?...and I understand that logically, but I still can't reconcile this notion that I owe it to myself to cut these people out of my life with the actions of actually doing it and potentially hurting their feelings in any way...in personal everyday relationships, I DON'T have to talk to people I don't like or make me angry...that's perfectly reasonable...I have a right to not like people, and people have a right to not like me...and I seem to always give in when someone doesn't like me and stops talking to me, and I let the relationship go...with maybe one notable exception...but when someone I don't like likes me, I let it continue...which in a way is worse...but I just don't know how to do it...that's so fucked up...

It's About Time...

I've been kind of cranky today and everything just seems to set me off...So here's a good old-fashioned entry about what's giving me rage...

-- People bitching about how many people are following them on Twitter...there's this thing called "Follow Friday" and you try to get people to follow you or your friends...who really gives a crap?...like unless you're famous who really gives a crap how many followers you have...and by the way if it's less than like 2,000 it's generally unimpressive...like what kind of brag is that "I have 100 followers on twitter" that's like Michael Scott talking about he entertained the guy who entertained a thousand guys...and if you should get someone famous to follow you back...wow watch out, you might get your big break at writing 140 characters at a time because the Matchbox 20 guy follows you?(along with 8,000+ other people -- really you think they go through everyone's tweets everyday and often enough to keep up woth yours?)...and oh yeah, if your number of followers matters to you that much, it's funny how at least 20 of them are robot scam things...anyone can have 47 followers if the don't block the spam accounts...

-- Dumbasses calling their protests "Tea Parties"...I really could care less if you're protesting health care or war or nun-chucks, it doesn't matter to me, go ahead and do it...I encourage it, that's the great thing about America is you can protest if you're liberal or conservative, crazy or perfectly sane...doesn't matter...but for the love of freaking God quit calling them the whatever tea party...it's not taxation without representation and it has nothing to do with the Boston Tea Party, which was only called a tea party because the protest involved actual tea...you're only calling it that to make it seem more noble than an average protest and imply that it has a real historical significance...don't get me wrong, passing universal health care would certainly be history, but 200 people peacefully marching down the street in opposition is not...it's just exercising a right that no one was trying to deny you, it's not a world event...so just quit acting all grand and righteous and stop calling it that...

-- Everyone I meet in the city...I'm seriously beginning to wonder if not needing someone around you 24-7 is a trait you acquire by being raised in the country...or maybe i'm just weird...but I can't freaking handle it...I'm sick of your whiny facebook statuses about being lonely and whiny...it's no fun to eat ice cream by yourself...guess I have to eat dinner on my own...boo fucking hoo...maybe I'd invite you over if it didn't result in a phone call and at least 3 texts everyday for 2 weeks after that...when you don't have anything to say...for fuck's sake...

-- Particular people that I just can't stand to be around or talk to because they act like they know everything or are just so funny and everyone else is a moron...notable examples: most writers, comedians, some musicians, emo kids, hipster/scene kids, people who live in California...just get the fuck over yourself...you're not that great...you're not that smart...shut up please...

Yeah, that's it for right now...lol...End of Story

The Tennis Court Creeper...

So yeah...Lately I like to sit on my balcony with my laptop and coffee and browse the interwebs and other shenanigans ...well this morning I have witnessed a phenomenon I shall call "The Tennis Court Creeper"

I looked out at all the little animals frolicking in the grass when something on the tennis court caught my eye...it was this man...now it's not unusual to see people out playing the occasional game of tennis or even kids with soccer or basketballs out there goofing around...I have even seen deer get trapped in there on 2 separate occasions...however, this guy was definitely some sort of creeper...the evidence:

A) Only person in sight - now maybe he could have been waiting for his tennis buddy to show up, that wouldn't be unusual...except...

B)Clothing (or lack thereof) - Notice he doesn't have a shirt on...which OK, some dudes get hot and take their shirt off, not unusual...but it's currently 9:00 AM and distinctly NOT hot...I'm actually wearing a hoodie at the moment...well, you say, maybe he's just kind of white trashy and never wears a shirt...no, no, my friends...for one he is very white indicating he has not been doing this all summer and for two, his shirt is actually draped over the net...clearly, he left the house wearing this shirt and then decided to take it off once he got tot he tennis court...well, maybe he went for a run and the tennis court is where he's taking a break...except...

C) Footwear - It's not quite clear in the picture...but he is wearing slide sandals and no socks...no sneakers in sight...either there was no running or he stopped at his apartment and changed shoes then proceeded to come out to the tennis court...ok, that's strange but still kind of plausible, maybe he's still meeting a friend and they only goof off on the court, not play real tennis that would require shoes...except...

D)No tennis racket - even if you're just goofing off you need at least one racket and a ball...which brings me to the final piece of evidence...

E) Behavior - He's been standing in this corner of the tennis court almost exclusively with the occasional walk along the back fence...kind of peering into the tall grass along the outside of the court...maybe he ditched a murder weapon there earlier...I'll have to watch the news for local homicides...

I don't know what his deal is...but he's definitely a creeper...I'm just pretty glad that I'm high enough up that he can't really see me out here and busting out the camera to take a picture of him...lol...maybe I'm kind of a creeper...but if I am at least I use my creeping for entertainment value...not solely to exist as a creeper...

Everyone Knows Everything...

So you know what I find super annoying...how as soon as there is one day that is not like 95 degrees, ten thousand people on facebook start bitching about how it should be warm because of global warming and clearly anyone who believes it is an idiot based on the evidence of a rainy day...OMG, it's July and only 60 because it's raining and cloudy? The theory that the earth is slowly warming at about 1 degree on average per year must be BULLSHIT...it should never be cold again!!...it doesn't matter if you believe it or not, but are you unaware of the fact that we still live in Northeast Ohio and our weather is just batshit crazy to begin with? If any sweeping scientific and political theories are based on the weather in Cleveland, may the good Lord help us all...also, please join me in the many ironies of this disposable Starbucks cup...

Really Jon Gosselin?!

So as most of you know, I have previously expressed my feelings that I had a slight crush on Jon from Jon & Kate plus 8...I think at one point I actually made the statement to someone that I wished he would divorce Kate and marry me...this was like 2 years ago, long before all the shit went down...

So now they're getting divorced and Jon is all over the place in the official douche uniform of Ed Hardy, giant diamond stud earrings, and spiky hair...also dating skanky chicks with arrest records...he went to France to hang out on a boat with Christian Audigier, the maker of Ed Hardy, talking about a children's line...REALLY, Jon?!...it's like after all your bitching about not wanting to be a reality TV star on TLC you're in some warped audition to end up on that new MTV show "Is She Really Going Out With Him?"...and please don't set cute little Aaden, Colin, and Joel on an inevitable road to breaking barriers in the realm of 1st grade douchery...

And is this really the best way to express your contempt for Kate? I know she was all controlling and bitchy and shit, but I thought the saying was "looking good and living well is the best revenge"...not morphing into a walking advertisement for a clothing line that makes it's target demographic (19-yr-olds btw)look like epic douches, much less 30-something year-old fathers of eight! The only one who can pull that look off and be over legal drinking age is Bret Michaels...and he BARELY does...if he didn't have the imported blonde extensions, cowboy hat, guyliner, and army of strippers he wouldn't even come close! The strippers only get away with it becasue they shred the damn shirts so much they barley even constitute clothing and therefore qualify as a work expense...

As for you Mr. Audigier...what would you call this line? Ed Hardy Kids by Christian Audigier by Jon Gosselin with extra input from his Skank of the Week?...maybe you could just change the whole thing to "You've Had Too Much Tequila, Go Home Alone" because that's what college girls realize they should have done when they wake up and see one of your crappy shirts on their floor and fauxhawk grease on their pillow case...give them a better chance and just write it in plain English instead of making them translate while intoxicated...GOSH!

Yeah...I like Kendra..

So you know what famous person I like that most people would probably guess I would hate...Kendra Wilkinson from the Girls Next Door or now Kendra...here's why:

1. She does dumb stuff I would probably do, like touch a real wedding cake thinking it was fake...I think she would be fun hang out with...Holly I would probably just want to punch in the face...

2. Hank is a cool, normal seeming guy...not an epic douche like when Holly was seeing Chris Angel...

3. She has cute dogs

4. She has a stripper pole in her living room too!

5. The other night I had a dream and she was in it...and in the dream I remember we were talking about boob jobs...sorry, boob enhancement...but anyway in my dream Kendra felt my boobs her dead serious assessment was that they were the perfect size right now but I should go ahead and get a reduction then a boob job to make them back to the original size, but they would be fake now and not sag later...

I don't really think I would actually take medical or surgical advice from Kendra...but I still think she's awesome

I Miss My Babies :(

So it's going on the second full day without my cats...I miss them...my apartment just feels so empty and lonely now...and it sucks even more because normally if I were to be in a sad mood Mose would jump up into my lap and purr to make me feel better...that's him in the picture...I can't wait to find a place and move...I think that's the number one reason I want a job ASAP is so I can feel confident about the move...I have a 2nd interview today with the fiber optic network company and as part of it I'll actually be sitting with a trainer for the company so they can get a feel for how they think I'll do at it and vice versa...then tomorrow I have an interview with Moen (yeah the faucet company) to do customer service for them...that's in the morning...then in the afternoon I have an interview in Avon with a company that makes duct tape...they're the ones with that big duck sign by the highway when you're going out 90 I think it is...lol...the duct tape place is just a temp position for right now though....but we'll see how it goes...sorry for the total Debbie Downer update...

Day of Interviews - The Sequel

So today I had two more interviews and it basically went down the opposite of the first day of interviews...

I got both interviews by posting my resume and applying for jobs on careerbuilder.com...which is awesome because I already have another interview scheduled for Friday and turned one down because of it...but it's also weird because employers can see your resume even if you don't necessarily apply for their posting...like the one I turned down was some lady from Farmer's Insurance who wanted me to get my insurance license and then they would subsidize me for the first two years of starting my own insurance agency...which to a lot of people that might be a great opportunity, but that's just SO not me...like if they just wanted me to sell insurance in an office maybe I could deal with that, but doing my own branch? no fucking way man...but anyway...

The first interview was with this consulting company that sells fiber optic systems...the interview went really well and if they call me back for a second interview I think I'll have a better idea if I would want to do it...I guess the company is originally from Georgia and they're expanding and are looking for people to staff a bunch o f new offices so they're really willing to put in a lot of training and really teach people about it...so I would be down for that...learning about it and selling something actually useful to people...that's the kind of sales I can handle...I actually applied for that one...

Now the second interview was with this finance company and the recruiter chick found my resume and e-mailed ME...she called ME before I even read her e-mail or responded if I was interested or not...but she called and wanted to do an interview and kept saying how since she saw Safeguard on my resume I would be such a good fit if I got to the interview and it didn't sound like something I wanted to do I didn't have to continue with the process...blah blah blah...so I'm like OK whatever I'll schedule the interview, look it up online and if it looks like total crap I can just cancel...well I look at her e-mail and it's some loan consultant position, which I'm a little skeptical of but the company seemed legit so I'm thinking, well what's the harm in going to the interview...

Oh, and when she called me on the phone she tells me that I need to bring a hard copy of my resume and "proof of performance"...so the resume is totally normal and I would have done that anyway, but proof of performance has me stumped...so I ask her, "What exactly do you mean by proof of performance?"...

she goes, "Oh it could be anything, one guy brought in a bunch of his karate trophies."

"um, OK, so you mean like awards?"

"Well yeah, it doesn't have to be a trophy, and obviously anything work related is better, but just anything that shows you've accomplished something in your life. Once I had a guy bring me a CD he made...not like a mix tape but he had saved up to buy a bunch of equipment and recorded a CD of music he made."

so....whatever...I had an old certificate for Employee of the Month from Safeguard so I'm cool...but still skeptical...so I get there today and she has me fill out this stupid application...which by the way the most annoying thing to me is having to fill out those stupid application forms with all the employment and education information that is on my resume...so I fill it out but they give one line to fill in your job responsibilities...so I was lazy on this one and just wrote "see resume" for the responsibilities part...

well while I'm filling the paperwork out she is giving this other girl her second interview for like a half hour...they come out of the interview room and her and the girl are like in girl crush mode with each other over how well her interview went and are chatting chatting chatting about how people don't know how to fill out forms and the interview lady goes "It's so annoying to me when people ask if they can write 'see resume' instead of filling it out, no you have to fill it out!"...and I'm just sitting there with my 'see resume' forms in my hand thinking "OOOPS"...

but then it's my turn and she proceeds to give me a tour, which I think is a nice thing to do in an interview because then you can see what you're getting into a little better...but as we're walking she starts going on and on about how once she went inside Safeguard's building and it was so great and how I should already know all this stuff about loan processing from working at Safeguard...and I'm just thinking you realize I've left that company don't you?...but then we start the interview and get down to brass tacks that I don't know half the shit she thinks I do, because Safeguard only deals with the loans after they go into default, and even then we didn't do a damn thing with the actual loan, just the physical house...and moreover this position she's interviewing me for is calling people who inquired about mortgages elsewhere and trying to convince them that they should use this company for their loan...that is the kind of sales I do NOT do...I do not sell people bull shit to make other people rich...sorry...

So she's explaining this to me and asking doesn't that sound great?...so I just say, "I have to be honest, this doesn't really sound like something I would be good at or enjoy doing"...so then she gets PISSY right...

she's like, "well didn't you know this was a sales position when you applied? Or did you think it was something different?"

I go, "I didn't actually apply, you called me and sent an e-mail saying you were interested based on my posted resume, and you wanted to see if I would be a good fit."

"Well, you know I don't really get a good vibe from you anyway, you don't seem like you have a very motivated attitude or a jump-out-of-your-seat, go-get-em personality. So let's just cut ties and I'll give you my card and if your personality changes, you can call me."

WTF!!! You freaking BITCH!!! I'm sure my mouth was just hanging open after she said that...I just couldn't freaking believe someone would be that insulting in an interview...I wanted to be like, you have no idea how much you just confirmed that this is NOT the place for me...but I just smiled and shook her hand, said thanks for calling me, and left...end of story.

But in other news while I was writing this I got a call back from the first place to do a second interview tomorrow and one of the temp agencies got me an interview at the Duct Tape company in Avon for Friday...so, yay! :)

I don't care, spit is gross...

So at the risk of TMI and judgment, I'm going to go ahead and channel Samantha Jones/Carrie Bradshaw and get a little something off my chest...

I was watching Superbad tonight after my nieces left, and there's this part where the one kid talks about how he plans to go down on this chick for hours and hours and she would love it and be his girlfriend...I always laugh at that joke, but I think a lot of people miss it...and it just got me thinking about how it seems like all these movies and stuff are perpetuating this idea to men that women love it if you just go down on them...now it's absolutely no secret that a brody jenner will be ruined if we nick you with our teeth...thanks to the maniac Spencer kids on Ken Skala's bus I somehow knew teeth were bad before I even understood how teeth could be involved in a "blow job"....yet, guys seem to think as long as you make the effort women are impressed that you don't think it's gross and will give you whatever you want just for the attempt...well, I'm sorry, but at least as far as I am concerned this is just simply not true and there is one thing that tips the scale -- spit

I'm sorry, but it is just really really freaking disgusting to have a vag full of spit...I know some is inevitable and I know you trade saliva when you kiss...but there's a line and it should be obvious...no one likes really sloppy kisses and don't pretend you'd appreciate it if a chick hawked one into your mouth...honestly...it's rude as shit to spit on the sidewalk when it doesn't even touch anyone...just think about it a minute OK...

Really?!

Holy crap!! So someone on facebook just posted photos of some chick who had her COLLEGE senior pictures done...like the whole same way everyone has their high school senior pics done with the posing and the backgrounds and everything...

I mean like good for her I guess and maybe her family wants them...but what are you going to do with those...can you imagine if we were back in school and someone came up and handed you a wallet and was like here's my senior picture I wrote you a message on the back...weird right??

This made me laugh so hard my eyes were watering...

12PM Um, Actually...
Manager: So there was this one time I spent $600 on snack foods.
Clerk #1: What?
Manager: Yeah, my friend and I went to the grocery store and bought a ton of food, but we also decided to bring along his cat in a backpack, and then we let him out in the store because we figured he was old and wouldn't escape...but he did. We lost him in the store, and then we left.
Clerk #2: You just left the cat behind?!
Manager: There's no stopping the Frito Bandito.

The Day of Interviews

So I had 2 interviews today with 2 different temp agencies...the first one was a small staffing place run by 3 women...the second was with a national staffing company (don't panic they're only going to place me locally)...

So the first interview was like the most disastrous interview of my life...I swear this lady was purposely trying to rattle me to see what I would do...she kept going back to the fact that I didn't seem to be using my degree and didn't I ever think about going back to school...which on one hand is a valid point, but I'm sitting there thinking "You're not my mom, get off my case lady, I just need a job to pay the bills what do you care if I'm not living up to my 'full potential' or whatever"...I also thought in my head "You don't know me!!!!"...

Then one thing I regret is as we were sitting there this spider started crawling down her desk across the room...so in the middle of answering a question I blurted out, fairly calmly I thought, "There's a huge spider on your desk!"...OK now to me there's only really 2 sizes of spiders -- tiny and huge...if it's smaller than a pencil eraser, it's tiny, anything else is huge...daddy long legs and cobweb spider have no place in this continuum and are neither huge nor tiny, they are just stupid...but anyway back to the interview...so she looks at the spider and goes, "That is not huge, that's small to medium at best." grabs a tissue, kills it, and throws it away...so now I'm sure she thinks I'm probably not fulfilled because I have severe ADD, poor depth perception, and mild arachnophobia...but she says she'll keep me in mind for temp positions but I need to go home and take some computer skills tests online...I also needed to stop and talk to this other lady first...

The first thing that lady said was "Kelly Moore, you must be 100% Italian!! HAHAHAHA You're like a walking stereotype!!!" then she asked me if I was a natural redhead and was disappointed when I told her no, apparently because she wanted me to be more stereotypically Irish...I did not mention my ability to drink large quantities of beer and whisky that make up for the dye job...although I'm sure she would enjoy that fact, I felt it prudent not to...so on my way home I stopped at the library to do the tests because I didn't want my POS to shut off in the middle of them...they were super annoying but I did OK and was glad to be done with the whole thing...

Then I had I went to the second interview and it went really smooth...had to take more computer tests...these were easier to navigate and I kicked their ass...then I was interviewed by a guy with a slight lisp...he was nice though and nothing weird happened there...except he could not have been more than 5 years older than me but when discussing my test scores kept referring to me as being part of "Generation Y" and that's why it was easier for me to use computers...end of story

So I get home and check my e-mail and there's an e-mail from the first lady thanking me for coming in and telling me how I did such a great job on the tests and she was "very pleased I did them immediately and even more pleased with the results" and that I should be very proud of myself...at this point, I kind of wish the first lady will call me back and just ask me to work in their office, cause that might be an entertaining gig...

The internet breeds false familiarity...

OK, so please don't try to act like you know Sarah Siverman just because you follow her on Twitter...you don't...Twitter doesn't even require her to confirm your request to follow her...she's not following you back...you're not her friend and she doesn't think you're funny...and you're especially not going to impress her by pointing out the obvious irony of a t-shirt she's wearing in one of her pics...only dip shits wear ironic shirts without being aware of the irony...or they're a totally different kind of dip shit and pretend that it's an accident they are wearing a funny shirt because they don't care at all about what they wear and pulled it out of some mysterious bin of shirts in their size...either way, Sarah Silverman is no dip shit...I don't know her, but I'm pretty sure of that...

This will totally be me when I'm my Grandma's age...

You can imagine my disappointment...

So just now I was looking up tips for cleaning my oven...and the third result was a link to an article about a commercial for an oven cleaner...and the headline read "Oven clean ad is sexiest, say men"...so naturally I was like, Dude I gotta check this out, how can they make oven cleaner sexy, let alone the sexiest commercial on TV!...So I clicked on it and turns out I misread and it actually said the ad was SEXIST and men were pissed cause a wife gives her husband the oven cleaner and says "So easy even a man could do it" ...it was kind of a let down.

"Michael, we're going to the hospital." "I know, I was just saying."

So yeah, my brother has started this trend of having my nieces' birthday parties at Chuck E. Cheese. They love it. I hate it. For real. That place is gross. And loud. I have to go on Saturday after my lesson. End of Story.

The other day I was talking to my friend from Safeguard and she said her sister was pregnant, and my first thought was that I kinda wished I was pregnant so I could have the guy who got me pregnant bring me nachos from Taco Bell, then I wouldn't even have to leave my apartment. I immediately felt like a terrible person. Also, I have been watching too much TLC and they have this "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant" show. Yes, that is literally the title. One girl's baby fell out onto the floor of a campground restroom. So I then I thought maybe I will be punished for my Taco Bell thought by having an unknown pregnancy so I will miss out on the whole pregnant part and just have a baby. Then I felt even worse for thinking that if I suddenly had a baby the thing I would be concerned about was not having someone bring me nachos while I was pregnant. Good thing I currently have a 0% chance of being pregnant and no immediate plans for that. End of story.

I get to go to Colorado Springs next week for my cousin's wedding!! At first I was really excited cause I was going to go by myself and just meet everyone there and I've never flown or gone really far away all by myself...then I ended up booking with my other cousin and her boyfriend so I was less excited...but now I'm getting excited again. They're getting married at Garden of the Gods which I hear is BEAUTIFUL! I'm looking for a nice, casual, inexpensive sundress to wear...anyone want to hit Old Navy/Target this weekend??

So since I've been back online a few people I knew from college have gotten back in touch with me and said hi and stuff on Facebook, which is cool...but some people will like not leave me alone...like seriously every time I log on they send me an instant message or through Facebook messenger, or a Facebook message, or comment on my status...and they're not saying anything creepy or offensive or anything...they just won't shut up...I'm just like really, we had a couple classes together 4 years ago, I barely talked to you then, never outside of class, I don't really want to hear about your stupid thing I hate...so that's annoying...End of story.

Damn...I can't stop thinking about those nachos now...

Apparently it's acceptable to just ask "Why?" in the music industry...

So this is one of the things I wrote down in my "list" leading up to getting the internet...when I was researching violins and teachers I called around to a lot of places to see what their hours were and what kind of stuff they had so I wouldn't waste my time going there. I should also preface this with the fact that lately I have become a champ at calling businesses and asking what their hours are then saying, Thanks! and hanging up. Usually it goes off without a hitch.

Well I found one place in Google that was specifically a violin shop, Horst's Violin Shop, so I called...They answered the phone and I said "Hi, I was just wondering what your hours are."

The guy, Horst apparently, says, "Well I'm here right now, when do you want to come in?"

Me, "Uh, I'm not sure when I can come in I was just wondering if you had general hours."

"Well, let me know and I'll be here. Why do you want to know?"

"I'm just kind of researching violin places."

"Why, what's your problem?"

"I don't really have a problem, I just don't know much about violins."

"Well what are you bringing in, I'll tell you right now if I can help you."

"Uhhh...I don't have a violin yet."

"Well, talk to my wife I don't know why you're calling."

Evidently, this is a violin repair shop, not like a 'we sell violins & violin accessories' shop. But it doesn't say that in the name...it just says violin shop...how am I supposed to know that?

(I just took a break to go in and put sunscreen on as the sun is encroaching on the balcony...in cased you were wonderinug...btw Aveeno Continuous Protection SunblockSpray has quite a pleasant scent)

So that's strange enough in itself...but a few weeks later after I had found a teacher and a violin and everything I needed to buy a specific book for my lessons. My teacher had told me that he knew Memphis-Ridge Music usually kept it in stock and recommended I call them...

So I call and ask my usual "Hi, what are your hours?"

Another old guy on the phone "Why, what do you need?"

Now anywhere I've ever worked if I dared to say "Why" when a customer asked for basic information I would get bitch slapped into next week...I'm like Really? are you kidding me? So I told him what I was looking for and he goes... "OK we have that, what day is it, Thursday, I guess I'll probably be open until 8 then."

So I say, "OK, will you for sure be there because I get off work at 7 so I can't get there until about quarter after."

"Yeah probably, but if not come back tomorrow."

"OK Thanks!"

So I went and luckily he was still there and they had it and it was all good...end of story.
